I recently visited for the first time. It was early October and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. This is an electric only lake so it was quiet and peaceful (except for the sound of hunters firing off their shotguns). The fish were biting and every inch of shoreline looked very fishy. We caught mostly pickerel and largies but also a few pike. I will definitely be returning to Shohola in the future and I highly recommend it to all anglers out there with a boat or kayak...I wouldn’t recommend trying to bank fish here, access looked very limited.
Rented a house here over a long weekend, great little spot. Awesome for teaching kids how to fish, as little sunfish will crush small pieces of bread in the dawn/dusk. Caught around 10 fish. Mostly pickerel and bass. Some sizable fish in there but you’ll find most are average. Had the best bite off watermelon senkos, use wide gap hook for Texas weedless rig or you will find yourself picking weeds off. Best times here are early morning and right as the sun sets. If you’re not renting or own a house here it’s virtually impossible to reach as security is very strict.
