Best pre-spawn tactic for catching blue catfish: Blue cats are pretty easy pre spawn. Bottom fishing is the best for catching them pre spawn, as the weeds haven't started to grow. Chicken or Hillshire farm smokeys work best at this time. When catching blue catfish year-round, pre spawn and post-spawn are easy. Just trow some bait out and wait. Post spawn and winter are hardest, if it is legal in your area, try chumming the water. The most effective way to do this is with a wiffle ball tied to the end of a line and cast it out up stream of your fishing area.
