great fishing, but at a price

many trophy fish have been caught in the saugatuck, but with the amount of rocky bottoms weeds, and random underwater structures from when they flooded it in the 1900's, you need to be prepared to lose a lot of tackle. I've personally had more success in the early morning, but everyone says the action is in the evening

Great fishing with a nice variety of species available. Very active in the morning and into the afternoon. Fish respond best to live bait such as frogs, nightcrawlers, and shiners. Big bass in the waters which can be finicky so be patient. Beware of snakes in the area and in the water.
