if you can catch the striper boils and be very patient...it's an experience like no other topwater fishing

Striper boils are still going on, theyve been going nuts on the shad around 8-9am. trout bites are slowing down but never a lack of fish!

Takes me about an hour to get to Castaic but I really do mind the drive since I get the opportunity to catch smallmouth bass. The smallies here are almost always willing to bite early in the morning and put up amazing fights. Usually do pretty well on the drop-shot. Catch and release, as always

One of my favorite lakes! It’s got some decent sized largemouths and TONS of minos which make for great bait here!

I came here a month ago and caught 1 largemouth in the span of 8 hours. Went again Saturday and skunked out. First off, don’t go on weekends. Bunch of big fast boats towing inflatables and waterskiis, creating ridiculous wake. No regard for anyone else. Even though they have the entire lake they’ll go right up to the 5mph marker and make sharp turns creating bad wake. Anyways, the fishing has been rough. I go early morning and can’t seem to catch anything on anything. I go right up to the edges of the lake to see if there’s any activity but don’t even see so much as shad. They’re deep in the waters after like 8am and they’re too pressured to go for top water stuff in the morning no matter the presentation. Couldn’t catch anything on the dropshot either, which is always my savior. I also tried crankbaits, swimbaits, worms, almost everything in my tackle box to see what they’re reacting to or biting and nothing. Judging by the posts I guess bank fishing near the ramps is the go to.
