Atlantic salmon

It is unlawful to harvest, possess, land, purchase, sell, or exchange this species.

Atlantic salmon are a critically endangered species, and therefore, it is unlawful to fish for them.
It is unlawful to angle, take or possess any Atlantic salmon from all Maine waters (including coastal waters). Any salmon incidentally caught, must be released immediately, alive and uninjured. At no time should the Atlantic salmon be removed from the water. If an Atlantic salmon is incidentally captured, you must release it alive at once. The best way to do this is: Avoid removing the fish from the water, and release the fish as quickly as possible. If the hook can easily be removed, do so quickly and release the fish. If the hook cannot be easily removed, cut the line as close to the hook as possible and release the fish. For more information, visit NOAA Fisheries Service at Atlantic Salmon.
