This one of my favorite fishing ponds in Northern NJ, especially for bass. The pond has many places where you can fish and many of them produce decent sized bass. Although at the entrance there is a gate and you may seem to be required to pay, the fishing is free. You only need to pay if you are visiting the recreational lake behind Darlington. There is a parking lot on the other side of the pond which is the only place to park.
Great spot for largemouth bass, carp, some pickerel, bluegills, and probably some others. In a quiet neighborhood with decent parking by the tennis courts. Easy to access the shore, but a boat would be best. There are no ramps but two spots to launch in. This lake was almost extinct so everything is catch and release. Best action seems to be by the island in the middle of the lake and the two boat launches (one of which has a pretty recent downed tree that offers some great coverage). Not worth driving a huge distance for, but if you’re local (ish) definitely check it out.
