there's a warm water discharge here from the water treatment facility, so overall the water here is warmer and attracts lots of fish during the colder months. lots of bass, snakeheads, carp, catfish, big sunfish. During the cold months, fish baits slowly or use drop shot or dead sticking methods for those stubborn bass. live bait does the trick too.

mattawoman creek has so many different spots where you can access it’s water and it has big bass. I’ve caught a 7 pound bass from mattawoman creek before and I’ve also caught big shad. You can catch a lot of different fish here and that’s part of what makes it fun. Another thing is the fact that there are huge fish in here. The fish fight hard too. The bass in here fight a lot harder than your average pond bass. Ive caught bluegill, bass, channel cat, crappie pickerel, white and yellow perch and shad here so if you like any of those this place is for you. This is a great creek overall
