Highly pressured, highly productive fishing spot

This tiny creek is the last tributary of the massive St. John’s river before it dumps into the ocean. It’s a very unique creek in that the mouth drys up at low tide giving it very little boat accessibility opening the door for kayakers. The deep holes along the bends and sand bars provide some of the best slot redfish and large sea trout fishing in the entire area, especially during the outgoing tides. The redfish prefer mullet or shrimp on the bottom the the wholes while the trout are best caught on artificial lures such as jerkbaits, topwaters, and corkies. Flounder, jacks, bluefish, black drum, pinfish, ladyfish, and small stingrays are also fairly abundant in this creek. Mullet can usually be caught in shallow water with a castnet. Be careful around the sharp oyster beds. This place is usually crawling with kayak fisherman so be prepared for close quartered fishing. There is limited bank and bridge fishing access but it’s fairly shallow in those areas and much less productive.
