Nashua River Reservoir

This section of the river [Pepperell/Groton] is slow and wide; wildlife rich if you explore by kayak or canoe. Water depths run from very shallow to depths over 20 ft. Plenty of cover and structure for bass to hide in. As for the fishing, I have found it to be challenging due in part to the vast size and time required to access a large number of areas in a kayak; those with boat/motor report much better results with bass averaging in the 3-5 lb range, and some reports of double digits. The biggest draw back to this location is the ramp, which is quite busy. Access is a single vehicle wide dirt road, which is not usually well maintained. Truck/trailer parking is limited to about 8 full size spots cut into the tree line. Many recreational paddlers use this ramp, and unfortunately don't always use the cartop "designated" spaces which cuts down on truck/trailer parking. Maneuverability is a challenge, especially with bigger trailered boats. If you're an early bird (before 6-6:30 AM) getting on the ramp and in the water is reasonably good, after this it fills up fast and can become a less than enjoyable experience.
