There are many little trails to lead back there . Best bet is to go through the off post on post housing . Turn right by the shoppers off clear creek and drive to the very end . Then a left . Off to the right is a dirt trail. A truck is recommended though my Camry is able to make some spots. Follow the trails till you can’t anymore then walk . Go in the same direction and you’ll find the lake eventually. It’s considered on fort hood so you will need an on post license and access pass from the sportsman center . If you take Watercrest there are trails to lead to it and that side is considered off post so you don’t need a fort hood pass. But gate will be closed usually
Access: there are 2 spots of access. Dirt trail off of Stan schlueter or walk in from Allegany CT. Bank accessibility: 25% of bank is accessible. Mainly on Stan schlueter side. Pockets between reeds in other. Pressure: moderate Water: Clear. Vegetation: pond is a soft bottom pond with underwater grass mats. This makes the water vary clear. Baits for bass: since the water is so clear and there is vegetation below the water, you should think natural. Depending on other conditions will determine baits. - topwater (popper, spook, and buzzbait) silver in color with black back or other natural colors. In the back of the pond near the creek might be a good spot for hollow body frog. - moving baits (spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, shallow trap, blade baits, swim jigs, swimbaits, and more) in natural colors. White/shad/shiner/gizzard colors -soft baits (speed tail, Curly tail, senkos, flukes, and more) keep them suspended and out of the thick. Bass were chasing baits and I was using a weightless fluke as a follow up bait. Natural colors. For worms I prefer watermelon red flake, red shard curly tail, or other natural colors. White flukes. Weightless will be your friend on 8-12 lb clear line (mono/Fluoro or leader) Fish activity: fish seemed to be cruising and or hanging out where the reds come to a point
