Olde town pond

I fish this pond nearly every day and I’ve found what works best for me. My favorite time of day is about 6:30-8:30pm. The bass normally sit around 5-6ft from the bank in 3ft of water, occasionally dashing 1-2ft from the bank in 6in of water to feed on bluegill and yearlings. My favorite things to throw are squarebills-1.5in and swim jigs-3/8th ounce both in bluegill silver/white patterns. Working these parallel to the bank at a medium-slow speed. There aren’t Shad in the lake but deep diving Shad crankbaits no deeper than 10 ft because the ponds no deeper than 12 ft at the most and there is a substantial amount of debree on the bottom. A lot of people walk on the path around the pond but most are extremely nice about anyone fishing there. The pond is strictly catch and release and I would not recommend eating anything out of there because all of the runoff and heavy metals form the road drains into there so it’s not very healthy. The biggest bass I have ever caught out of this pond was 5lbs 2ounces On a bluegill swim jig. The majority of the fish are 2-3 lbs. The gear I would recommend is bait casting with a 7ft medium-heavy with either 15 mono/flouro or 30-50lb Braid( if you use braid make sure to use a mono leader because there is a lot of wood and rocks on the bottom). On overcast days frogs in the shallows work well.the cat fishing is decent but there’s a ton of turtles and only channel cats. There is limited parking on the side of the road and the pond normally not that busy.

we really like these ponds, only complaint is the amount of turtles here. we don't come to fish as much anymore bc we are always catching turtles and I feel so bad bc we can't always get that hook out of them. other than that it's a nice fishing spot, playground, skate park, soccer fields, nice size walking track that loops around.
