Cayuga has many different species of fish. If you like bass fishing, hit the north end for good largemouth. Like trolling for lakers? Hit the lake further south in deeper water. Cayuga is almost always a good bet for catching some fish. It’s a great place to fish. Enjoy.
Partner Bick and I fish Canandaigua lake silly every day God and weather permits us. He's retired Army major and I'm nearing retirement from being a psychiatrist in Finger Lakes NY since 1985. He's retired charter boat captain and I'm closing in on my 6-pack Captain's license by September. Neither does his 13 foot Whaler nor my 16 foot Glasstron look like we're keeping up with the Jones's and all the modern trolling gear...we got Seth Green and Sutton Spoons down to a science. The bald eagles know us up and close and enjoy a released bloated Lake Trout almost every day. Keeping accurate DEC daily diaries each year since 1985 and breaking our own records pretty much year after year. We probably could catch more trout pulling copper, downrigging, planer boarding, dipsy diving or jigging sawbellies but 2 to 8 trout each morning, "the old fashioned way" is not to shabby either. Living on Canandaigua Lake after living, fishing and diving Lake Tahoe is second to none ; realtors and real purists know what I'm talking about. God and glaciers have given us this truly awesome Finger Lakes ecosystem. I'm gonna be cremated and scattered here if for no other reason than eternity. Canandaigua means "chosen spot" to our native tribal ancestors. Wanna charter me and my Seth Green Machine and become a part of this piece of heaven on earth...Canandaigua simply cannot be beat. Call me : 315-521-6275. Tight Lines ! Fish on !
