If you like unconventional species, this is the spot for you. You got common/grass carp aplenty, gar out the wazoo, and more than enough blue, channel, and flatheads to keep catfisherman occupied. Very little fishing pressure, only a small section of river is accessible from the bank tho.

Our trip was during a severe heat wave. Surface water temp was mid 80’s average. Be prepared to fish HEAVY Lilly Pad cover. Heavy rods, and 50# braid to land the big boys. Went during the week, lake traffic was light, access was excellent. They have cabins for rent, we stayed at the inn next to the golf course (also amazing). The inn was 5 minutes from the lake, and had several receptacles in the side parking lot to allow you to charge your batteries at night. We went at a really bad time for fishing due to the extreme heat. We were not prepared to fish the heavy cover (was our first trip), and so we lost quite a few big fish. Overall a beautiful lake, quiet spot, and a must fish again for me with the right equipment.
