This is my favorite spot in the city, the water is clear and you can sight fish your fish, I target rio grande cichlids but you can catch bass, bluegill, mullet, yes I said mullet (use shrimp) gar and catfish. Sometimes during the year the city will open the gates at the end of the bayou that lets salt water and salt water fish from lake Pontchartrain. So you can catch redfish, speckled trout, drum and crabs. So you should give it a try, Good luck!

Very amazing place to fish

This place has no parking unfortunately, but people don’t usually mind if you park on the side of the road as long as you aren’t causing issues. I personally, have caught many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many fish there. The bass bite all day and the average bass there is fortunately 3 1/2 lbs because all of the bass there are Florida strand bass. The bluegill are huge there as well. The canal consists of multiple pump stations and the bass hang out all around them. There aren’t picnic spots but there are fields that are owned by the parish and they are accessible!
