It's got a ton of little bass, and I've even landed a couple of four pounders out of it. I never get skunked at cottonwood, and have a great time hunting for big bass on ultra light gear! If you're going to fish it, use an ultra light rod with either the black or the white dynamic lures trout attack swimbait depending on the water clarity. let the bait sink for half a second, then retrieve it slowly across the bottom. Despite the diminutive size of the bait, this is the way I catch my biggest fish from cotton wood. If you can't get the bass to play, there are also bluegill, crappie, shiner, catfish, and carp. All in all its a great place to fish. Please release all bass caught, as many people here take everything they catch and mess up the fishing.
