A person may not catch, attempt to catch or possess trout without first obtaining a trout stamp.

Basic Statewide Trout Fishing regulations are shown, which are in effect for trout fishing in all Maryland non-tidal waters.

No size limit.

No closed season. Fishing hours — from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Possession limit = 4 trout (all trout species in aggregate).

Culling of Trout:

  • An individual may not cull trout. Cull = exchange or discard a trout in order to possess another trout.
  • A trout that is not immediately released becomes part of the daily creel limit and may not be returned to the water.
  • A trout is part of the daily creel and possession limit if it cannot freely swim away from a person.
