Front Range Gem

Decent size and gets vary deep. Anyone thinking of ice fishing BE VARY CAREFUL there are inlets and springs that feed the Reserviour plus a dam that drains so water levels can radicaly fluctuate like you drill a hole and theres 3ft of air before water. Ice collapses when water levels drop. Go with simeone else or a group and have safety gear cause cell phone service is non existent. This body of water has alot of potential the size depth and rugged shorline limits the fishing pressure, so there are giants in there.

Hidden Gem

Gross Reservoir has to be one of the prettiest lakes in the state. The drive to get there is a winding dirt road through dense evergreen forests. Once there, the water level at its peak will make shore fishing all but impossible since the lake is essentially a flooded canyon. When the water level is high in the spring, your best bet is a kayak. No motors are allowed on Gross which makes kayaking a breeze. Tons of arms and channels and coves branch off the main reservoir and the entire lake can get really deep. Trout can be finicky here. Worms do the best for me but the occasional stocker on a spinner or spoon is also common. Lakers are found very deep throughout but I've had the most luck at the dam. Tubes and sucker meat will fill a stringer in the spring. There are Tiger trout here too but I've yet to catch one. Overall it is a gorgeous lake with a lot of large fish. The difficulty to navigate on foot and the finicky bites make it a great challenge!

Massive!

it was my first time here and my god this place is gigantic. It was crazy windy but don't let that scare you away. Just put some good weights on and bottom fish. It is super deep in there.

the inlet isnt the only spot for giant trout, there are steep drop offs everywhere. explore a bit and you'll probably find some rarities like big Lakers, muskie, or kokanee...on top of the endless trout
