Crawford lake

quiet in the am hours and evening but during the day full of boats paddleboards and other noises from the campground water towards the dam leaves a bit to be desired as far as clarity and cleanliness but all in all not the worst lake to go to

Something for everyone

Great little body of water that holds a decent population of largemouth, crappie, yellow & green perch, stocked trout and northern Pike. Unfortunately the lake typically closes late July-August as the draw down for irrigation results in dry ramps. Great springtime crappie fishery and decent bass for those in the know. The occasional freight train Pike make for exciting opportunities.

Nice fishing and good campgrounds

First of all, your chances of getting any fish at all from early September to late April are very slim because during those times, the lake becomes so shallow, that if you go on foot from the main campground (which is a very nice one), you have to walk about 500 yards if you wanna get to the lake, and the last 50 yards is just mud that will sink you in up to the thighs, so for that reason, it’s best to have some sort of watercraft. The other problem is that CPW killed hundreds of pike, so now with only a few left the fishing near shore is mostly overpopulated panfish and stocker trout, another reason why you need a boat. But if you do have a boat and the right lures, you can catch nice largemouth, catfish, descent crappie, some bigger trout, and maybe even some of the remaining pike. If you do catch any pike though, please release them so the panfish don’t get completely out of control. Besides, your only allowed to keep one largie a day over 18 inches.
