My yearly Blue Lake trip.  Always fun to see what colors I can find

Two little Jew cichlids  sadly the tilapia where spawning so they wouldn’t eat

Put a smack down on the bass in the last 40 minutes of light, ended up caught 5 all between 1-2 pounds. Swim jig and dropshot we’re doing work! Fishing with @fulltimefisherman @obsessed_fisherman @fishingFIN

Caught about 15 Red Devils, they were fun to sight fish.

By far the most beautiful freshwater fish I have ever caught. Looks like it came right out of a coral reef. Male giraffe Cichlid get the crazy blue heads.

Some of the prettier jewel Cichlid, didn’t get too many pics of these guys cause they were everywhere.

For some reason the best bass are caught at night. Always catch n release all fish from this lake!!

Go fishing at sundown

The lake is super awesome for the right person.  I loved this lake, it was one of my favorite places but if you can’t push past the constant smell of decomposing plants and mud and fish, the relentless horseflies and the muddy trails then it’s not worth going. The bass fishing was decently well. Spearfishing was great for tilapia if you can dive 15 feet deep and hold your breath for a good long time. The water clarity is pretty bad compared to other place but the fish make it beautiful.

Blue lake

So I had a pretty decent day the other day. Unfortunately only the Jewel Cichlids were biting. Could see the Tilapia, Bass, and other Cichlids swimming around, but nothing else would bite. I tried every bait I could image. But the little jeweled cichlids only bit. Not a lot of places too fish from, but get there early and early early. Before the droves of people get there, so you can enjoy the wildlife, the wild mustangs near by and a quiet time fishing. Also not for the faint of heart from the months of May- November. The mosquitos and horse flies are killer. They don’t bother me whatsoever, but if you have people or you don’t like them. Wait till there is snow on the ground. They won’t mess with you then. Also like the others said. Muddy trails, decomposing smells, litter everywhere, and not a good bite. Try somewhere else, but if you can handle and want some exotic species. Head on out!

it was pretty from the car I really wanted to fish these ponds but as soon as I got out the truck I got attacked by jumanji sized mosquito's that were relentless . got about 2 castles before I had enough of being the buffet, so I bounced. probably just the time of year or something

Overpopulation of picky large moths that have killed off almost everything else. Very gross and muddy, I think I got a tapeworm
