1. Fire Island Reef

A staple fishing hotspot on Long Island, Fire Island is a must. Fire Island Reef is only about two miles from the infamous Fire Island lighthouse. Because of its wide stretch, there is an array of fish living in these saltwaters, and plenty of space for you to go out and explore them. Some famously known catches here include flounder, striped bass, and porgies.

2. Robert Moses State Park

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, with a shoreline of almost 5 miles, Robert Moses State Park is located just southwest of Fire Island. Whether you decide to get on a boat and sail out, or fish from one of the many piers available here, there are plenty of fish to choose from - two of the popular being fluke and bluefish

3. Lake Ronkonkoma

Taking the title as Long Island’s largest freshwater lake, Ronkonkoma has lots to offer. A huge 100ft pier is where many go to catch largemouth and smallmouth bass. Fun fact: The park itself was formed by ancient glaciers. It has also been mentioned in popular TV shows.

4. Bellows Pond

This park/campground is the ideal place to bring children for a fun day/night or the whole family for an exciting fish trip. Bellows Pond's popular species caught here include largemouth bass, bluegill, and pickerel

5. Jones Beach

At Jones Beach, there are bait shops, different saltwater fishing piers, surf fishing, and fishing tours. You can even snag a special Night Fishing Permit if you would like to continue or start fishing in the evening. In these waters you will find flounder, porgy, sea bass, fluke, blackfish, and weakfish.
