Introducing BiteGuide

Timing and conditions can make or break any fishing trip. Knowing how to fish the conditions you're given and how to time peak bite times can take any angler's game to the next level.

Fishbrain is thrilled to announce BiteGuide, our latest feature that helps you decide how to fish different conditions, while recommending the best lure for the job.

What is BiteGuide?

BiteGuide is the compilation of in-depth weather data, fish biology and lure knowledge. Fishbrain has taken that knowledge and gives you our expert advice on how specific weather systems affect fish behavior, like sun, rain and even water conditions.

BiteGuide consists of three major functions that help you understand fish behavior, the impact of the elements on fish behavior and how they react to different lures. Bite Score, a completely revamped BiteTime and major additions to best baits all make up BiteGuide, the most comprehensive fishing tool you've ever seen.

Revamped BiteTime

Timing can make or break a fishing trip. That's why we gave BiteTime a complete upgrade. We've consulted state agencies, expert anglers, fish biologists and our own community to add thousands of data points regarding time of day, air temperature, water temperature, air pressure trends, light conditions, wind, moon phases and more to refine BiteTime data and help you pick the perfect time of day to go fishing.

It's simpler than ever to find the best time of day to plan each fishing trip. Simply tap "BiteTime" in the lower right of your app screen and look through the day to find the highest estimated activity level for your target species on any given day throughout your week.

What about lure color and style?

The Fishbrain community has always led the way when it comes to which lures are the most effective at any given time, but now we've taken it to the next logical place. Your lure suggestions are now improved based on the water conditions you're fishing, as well as the weather, time of year and temps. We also took a closer look at color and now offer different color patterns that should work at any particular time of day.

Picking the bait and knowing how to fish it are very different skills, so we've added tips on how you should present and retrieve each bait based on the current conditions.

In-depth activity scores

The best time of day to fish doesn't always mean the fish are jumping into your boat. BiteScore uses a mixture of scientifically proven fish behavior and trusted community data to break down and rank activity levels, while giving a clear overview of which conditions are helping, or hindering, the bite.

To use BiteScore, tap "BiteGuide" on your maps screen and tap the box with a gauge, a corresponding number and fishing tips.

The number is a ranked score on a scale of 1–10. After you tap the box, it will tell you every factor going into the score, as well as the "gameplan" on how you should approach casting and retrieving for your selected species.

Fish smarter, every time out

BiteGuide brings together everything Fishbrain knows about fish behavior, conditions and gear and puts it in your hands before you ever hit the water. Whether you're chasing bass at first light or targeting walleye through a cold front, BiteGuide gives you the confidence to make the right call. Update your app today and let BiteGuide do the homework.

Now let’s go fishing
