Fall and winter app updates

We’re just starting to make out spring through the dark of winter. Even though we aren’t quite there, Fishbrain has been grinding through the long winter days to make sure you are equipped when fishing season is officially back. Since last fall we’ve added several new features that will have you ready, and more excited than ever, to get back on the water.

RIVER GAUGES

Any angler who has ever put a line in moving water knows how valuable flow rates and temperatures are. Whether you’re monitoring spring runoff, looking for a rise to bring in migrating fish, or waiting for the temperature to hit that perfect zone, we’ve all been glued to gauges trying to figure out what the river is going to do next. Now with the newest update to Fishbrain Pro on IOS you can find river gauges on the map for your favorite waters.

The gauges pull real time information from 10,000+ USGS gauges located across the country.

With one quick tap you can determine river flow rates (in feet or cubic feet per second) or the water temperature (some USGS gauges have one, or more of these readings so if you don't see the data you want simply find another close by.) Gauge waypoints appear on your map as a blue wave icon with an arrow and can be turned on via the map options side bar.

FISH ID SHORTCUT

Fishbrain’s groundbreaking Fish ID technology just received a major boost. Fishbrain members now have the option to immediately ID a fish, instead of waiting until they post the catch.

When you tap the “+” icon at the bottom, center, of your app screen you will see a new “Fish Id” option along with posting a catch, or report.

Tap “Fish ID”, snap a picture and Fishbrain will ID your catch.

Fish ID will then ask you to pick the body of water the fish came from to narrow down species possibilities. Note: Adding the body of water is to identify the fish only, no data will be shared with the community.

After the identification process, you will then be shown a list of possible species to choose from with the first species being the most likely candidate.

For even faster access, press and hold on the Fishbrain app icon from your phone's home screen, then select "Fish ID" from the Shortcuts menu

You Tab

  • All your stats in one place

  • Streamlining your info that matters

  • Catches gallery

  • Species count

Your fishing stats are more easily accessible. The new You Tab (found on the lower right of your screen) streamlines all of your fishing data into one easily navigable tab.

“You Tab” lets you scroll through your catches gallery in chronological order, while providing all your most important info, like catch stats, gear and your map, at the top of the page.

The “You Tab” also shows the number of different species you’ve caught and logged right at the top. Simply tap any one of these categories for a more in depth look at what you’ve caught, when you’ve caught it, your favorite baits and more.

Hide from feed

  • When you want to add a catch to your profile without spamming the social feed.

When you enable hide from feed, your catch will not appear in the social feed, and your followers will not be notified about it. The catch will still appear on your profile, and in the map, however, based on your location privacy settings for the catch.

Recent Catches Filter in Map

  • Narrow down to just the most recent catches in the map

Now when you tap “Filter Catches” at the top center of your map screen, you can narrow down the catch waypoints that appear on your map all the way down to those made in the last 30 days.

This a great feature when you are targeting very season specific fish, or looking for season specific boats and lures.

Follow button in feed

  • Follow other anglers directly from the feed

Now when you see another angler on your feed, you can immediately follow them, without going to their page. You can find the follow button in the top right corner, next to every angler’s name on the social feed to help build your own personal community of fishing experts and friends.

Now let's go fishing. We'll bring the new features.
