The eulachon smelt is a small anadromous fish known for its slender, silvery body and large eyes. It occupies the coastal waters and river systems of the northeastern Pacific Ocean, migrating upstream to spawn. Typically, it measures 6-9 inches in length and weighs a few ounces. It forms large schools and plays a significant ecological role as prey for various marine and terrestrial predators.
