Well I’m going to be completely honest, I didn’t find this in my camera roll, I was looking into hybrids I could catch and came across a longear - bluegill hybrid and realized that this may be one? So I posted it again as one, then I decided like five minutes later it was stupid and I switched it back to longear, then several of yall commented about it, saying it don’t look like a regular longear, been doing some further research and I’m going back to my original hypothesis! I’m getting so close to all the major species guys, next job is the hybrids, little do I know I’ve already gotten started.

It obviously isn’t a normal bluegill and I haven’t ever seen or caught a green sunfish in this stretch of the river. However, there is an over abundance of longear. The patterning matches pretty well with a longear and it was a lot more orange in person. The spot on the gillplate also seems to be a bit more stretched out than normal, similar to a longear. I’m almost certain that this is my first longear x bluegill!
