Campspot's first annual Outdoor Almanac was released this year with in depth data from campers across the country. Camping and fishing go together like summer and smores. Whether you’re fishing an untouched river 30 miles in the backcountry, or setting up your tent at the local lake, fishing is one of our favorite reasons to go camping. We at Fishbrain are not alone in sentiment. In a recent report from Campspot.com, fishing came in as one of the most popular activities people enjoy while camping and the driving reason to go camping in the first place.
Campspot is an online marketplace that helps average people find amazing camping spots across the U.S. The company features RV resorts, family campgrounds, cabins, glamping options, and more, in an effort to get more individuals and families to enjoy the scenery that makes the U.S spectacular.
Campspot’s first annual outdoor almanac came out this year where they share camping survey data from over 1,200 camping enthusiasts, novices and everyone in between. The company's survey includes comping data with everything from the best National Parks to visit, to dog friendly camp spots, the best place to see a night sky, camping recipes and more.
At Fishbrain, we love the idea of camp smoke slowly climbing toward an evening sky, setting the scene for each individual star to show itself. But what, obviously, drives us is spending our time outside along the water for the off chance to set a hook.
And we are not alone.
According to the Campspot almanac more than 65 percent of campers polled cited fishing as their activity of choice while in the great outdoors, second only to hiking.
Campers polled didn't just cite fishing as something they enjoy doing while camping, either. Over 50 percent of those polled regard camping as the reason that drives their reason for going camping in the first place.
Campspot evnen interviewed Fishbrain’s own Partnership Manager, Nate Roman, on the best ways for new campers and anglers to find the best fishing spots and how to key in on specific habitat where most fish live.
