Learn how to fish at the right time to make your outing more successful
Every experienced angler has a “pre-game routine” they go through before they head out on to the water. They check the weather to see if the conditions will be cooperative. They check the tide and moon phases to see if they will be in their favor. They figure out where exactly they plan on fishing, and finally, they inventory their gear to make sure everything is prepared for the species they are targeting.
However, if given a choice, they would also like to know what fish have been caught in those locations over the last 24-48 hours. Anglers also find it essential that their bait or lure selection has been performing as advertised. And above all, they would benefit from data showing the fish activity in the fishing spots near them.
The likelihood of pulling all of that data together for the average fisherman has been impossible until now! If you are a Fishbrain Pro user, you can access a massive amount of up-to-date fishing data available. I am talking about the BiteTime™ data portal available exclusively to Fishbrain Pro users. It is a gamechanger when it comes to “catch-performance!”
The BiteTime™ program makes recommendations based on your location, weather, and time. This algorithm Fishbrain’s exclusive ability to analyze millions of logged catches, predict the best times to fish for specific species, and more. This proprietary program uses sunrise/sunset times, moon phase, water and air temperature, air pressure, wind direction, tide data, and real logged catches during similar previous conditions to extrapolate predictive data.
From a “micro,” perspective Fishbrain then considers many other fishing factors, such as the depth contours of the water, past public catches in those areas, and what the current water conditions are (over the last 14 days). The BiteTime™ program then collates all of that data to develop a predictive algorithm that suggests what species of fish you should target for greater success. It even includes fresh and saltwater applications!
The data is updated in real-time by the hour. This allows you to identify trends while you are fishing. As an example, while fishing in Tampa Bay, I was initially targeting Redfish on the flats. I noticed that the Redfish bite seemed to “cool down” over the next couple of hours. I checked my BiteTime™ program in my Fishbrain app and saw that it had reflected a similar drop off in that bite. However, it also indicated that the Spotted Seatrout bite was trending upward. I switched to a different setup and started fishing the drop-offs and shallow troughs next to the flats… and we started catching Trout!
The Fishbrain BiteTime™ program uses over 30 geographical attributes to highly tune the “catch predictions” to your general location. However, the catch data that Fishbrain users log also plays an integral part in the data used in BiteTime™. For that reason, you should always log your catches. If you log them as “private,” don’t worrry! All private catches will stay private and are never shared with other users. Fishbrain will only use the species caught, time of catch, and bait/lure used to apply this to other BiteTime™ variables. In short? Your top-secret “honey-hole,” remains confidential, forever!
Tight lines…
