Whether you’re a seasoned angler, or you’ve just started learning to fish, having a set of trusted fishing tools and resources is key for improving your skills and ensuring you’re meeting all laws and regulations.

Fishbrain: of course we’re biased here, but having a fishing app like Fishbrain that allows you to check forecasts, find spots to fish, socialize, and even buy the right fishing gear is a must-have. Fishbrain is the perfect swiss army knife of fishing to have in your toolset.
Licensing: make sure you have a license to fish! Takemefishing.org is a great resource for learning where to find a fishing license near you, what the local laws and regulations are around fishing, and can even help you get a fishing license quickly and easily online. They also have some great guides to check out for beginners.
Guide to effective catch & release: here at Fishbrain we promote sustainable fishing through catch and release efforts. Here is an excellent guide on catch and release fishing that will help you familiarize yourself with the subject and make you a more confident angler.
How to Measure Fish: Luke Ovgard has many great how-to guides, including one about how to accurately measure a fish.
Learning to fish: if you’re new to the hobby and need some guidance, the International Game Fish Association has an excellent free course you can take online that will cover topics such as fish identification, safety tips, how to tie knots, and more.
