I wasnt expecting on going to the upper potomac again anytime soon, but it turned out that my scout troop had a kayaking campout there the week after I had gotten back from my own 5 day one, but there were still a few species there to catch so of course I went. When we stopped for lunch while kayaking, it was on a small island that had a tiny channel on one side with a slow grassy pool so i dropped a tanago in with a tiny piece of nightcrawler just to see what minnows are around. Out of nowhere appeared a group of mosquitofish and instantly ate the bait. I wasn’t expecting to catch one in that spot, but its nice to finally check these off the lifelist.

After catching the Mosquitofish, I went into the faster part of the channel to look for darters. It was perfect habitat, and I ended up seeing a few different ones. After about 20 minutes, I had lost a couple from flopping off the hook and a lot of them were stubborn to eat. I finally found a large one in the rocks and was able to catch it with a small piece of nightcrawler. The backup photo came in handy, because the darter escaped when trying to take a decent one
