I also landed my personal best male flagfish yesterday. This little guy was a stud zipping around defending the bed. You can really see the flag resemblance in the pattern along its side which is where the common name is derived. They say it's one of two species native to Florida and perhaps that's where the scientific name comes in.

Another fish I spent a lot of time and fuel looking for earlier this year and yesterday I found a solid population near home. The male is the brightest one I've caught personally and the photos don't do the colors any justice but figured share it anyway.

Scored a couple new small fish today starting with this female flag fish. Found them in less than two inches of water scurrying around submerged grass. The area was too small to use my fishing rod so I ended up just holding the line in hand.

I’m not sure how I got this little guy on that hook but I worked long and hard to catch this fish species and I earned it.
