A full moon illuminates a dark street where leaves blow across an empty dock. Jack O’lanterns light the boat ramp, a thick fog sits on the lake and an eerie howl sounds off in the darkness. It’s Halloween season and while the holiday isn't always closely associated with fishing, we at Fishbrain think every holiday is a cause to fish.

In light of the October holiday, we picked out some of our favorite fishing gear perfectly suited for this spooky season.

Double Willow Spinnerbait

This double bladed spinner bait will creep through the water, bouncing off of structures like a ghost. The bait features classic Halloween orange and black coloring with a hint of green reminding you of the stem on your carved pumpkin. Electro-painted premium blades shine plenty of light through the murkiest of waters, and are sure to get the attention of predatory fish. The double willow is a great addition for fishing near docks, submerged logs and grasses, where monster largemouths and other creatures of the deep prefer to lurk.

Hellboy Crankbait

Watch a trail of underwater fire follow this crankbait as you rip it through the weeds. Its distinct L shaped curve allows it to move freely and unabated through obstructions with the speed of the headless horseman chasing down Ichabod Crane. Dual internal rattles make a distinct noise, attracting and enticing bites from nearby bucket mouths. You can even choose from a variety of colors including Halloween appropriate red and orange.

Rare Monster Tungsten Ice Fishing Jig

The perfect spooky accompaniment for the hard water. This tungsten jig glows in the dark, illuminating the lightless depths where real monsters lurk. The tungsten head is heavier than lead, sinking to the black depths and into the mouth of a hungry lake monster faster. THe combination of iradescents and weight are exactly what you need to reel in the kraken that resides in your local lake, or pond.

Jenko Big T Trick Stick

Despite what the name suggests, there are few tricks to casting this medium action rod. Instead you will be treated to a rod that can handle all your crappie, bluegill and bass needs. The Paratek carbon blend is used in popular bass rods, making the Trick Stick sensitive enough to feel everything while drop shotting and vertical jigging, but strong enough to reel in that creature from your black lagoon.

MONSTERBASS Seeker 12 - 6 Pack

This bait is made for the attack. In any depth, amid any structure, this ferocious crank bait pulls through the water, attracting big, hungry bass. The two kitana treble hooks are guaranteed to sink their claws in oncoming fish, and once they are in there is no escape. You can choose from six different and distinct patterns, but none get the Halloween blood flowing like the tiger striped pumpkin orange.

Jenko Mermaid Jig 2.5" - 15 pack

blogpost image

Early folklore depicts mermaids as harbingers of bad omens and malevolent creatures willing to drag sailors to their dooms. The Jenko mermaid isn’t much different. Any fish that sees this fluke tailed lure will be drawn in only to find itself hooked and on the end of your line. Bad omen for the fish, great omen for the angler. The lure features Jenko’s signature blend of plastic and scent, and the forked action on the tail will give you incredible action. You can choose from 16 different colors, but for the spooky season, Jack O’lantern orange is our favorite way to go.

Happy Halloween to all Fishbrian users this year. We hope everyone gets at least one more chance to be on the soft water, staring at the sky and waiting for a broomstick to shoot by the light of a full moon.
